Yo, great review of Play Dirty. That completely passed under my radar and now I see it appears to be unavailable. Anybody know what's up with John Wick and the disribution of his products? How can I get a hold of Play Dirty?

Great show!

I would have to disagree with your views on Shadowrun. I don't see it as a game of lone gunman -- the setting of Shadowrun does have a lot of nuances, but the way I see the game work is that the players are expected to make a team that knows each other and who know how to operate with one another.

The 'lone gunman' thing is more Cyberpunk than Shadowrun. In Shadowrun, or perhaps how I play it, maybe, is that the players are expected to understand that they're a team and are expected to cover each other's backs. As to player pro-activity, I would have to say that the players should have goals for themselves, personal advancement, and a need to 'find their place'. For example, my Shadowrun character wanted to go 'legitimate' and get hired by a company for their services. They had no SIN however, and were in Seattle illegally, so needed to prove their professionalism. That is player pro-active.

As it stands however, good episode (I'm still listening to it as I write this)

Hey, Brian and Chris. I wanted to be a good listener and actually take a moment to comment on this episode.
I normally quite enjoy all your shows, so let me throw that out there and put it aside. This ep in particular, I liked a lot the reviews; the coverage of the M&M Beginners Guide was excellent and got me to buy it, even though I already own M&M 2e, and I thank you for introducing me to Wick's Play Dirty, which I intend to seek and buy as soon as I can.
I have to say the part I really enjoyed was those almost 15 minutes you spent talking about D&D 4e and commenting on the business of the gaming industry.

I know Chris does this more on the OCAR but that show's erratic (to put it midly) release schedule means I am always left wanting more. I want my Gaming Industry punditry, dammit, I don't get nearly enough of it, so this was a great treat for me. I don't know you're change into that format, or even do more of it as part of the show if the topic comes up, though I do hope so because you have some interesting points of reference when looking at the industry. Thanks for that, in any case.

Lastly, I'm looking forward to the New Releases minicast, if only to know what I'm missing.

Great show. Till the next.

Heh... I completely forgot that about those adventures in 2nd edition. And "The Heist" is the exact adventure I was thinking of - I remember when it was a download ... prior to, you know... 2nd edition.

Thanks for the review of the Beginner's Guide. FYI, the M&M core rulebook has two intro adventures in it and one of them, "The Heist", is exactly the sort of bank job adventure Brian was talking about. So got you covered!
