It's a terrible shame that GW has already anounced that they will not be continuing with Dark Heresy, though today brings a possible glimmer of good news. Today it was announced that Fantasy Flight Games has been granted the rights to do Board, Card, and RPG games in the GW universe. Hopefully Black industries will be able to hand over Dark Heresy wholesale to FFG, and DH can continue to grow and expand.
I know when Black made the announcement that they wouldn't be continuing to produce DH, I refused to pick up a $50 book for a game system thought to already be dead and buried. Now I will have to adopt a "wait and see" position.

Thanks for the ‘cast, I really enjoyed it

I’ve recently had my first game with my mate’s collectors ed DH, and I have to say the last poster’s comment hasn’t been my experience at all, the combat system is similar but not the same, you’re definitely better off with shooting I think (which even being a scroll-fondling Adept I managed to put holes in mutants very effectively), and there’s modern style weapon rules (autofire etc), it is pretty deadly, it’s a gritty game system but it’s meant to be 40k so I have no problem with that, and you have fate points and stuff so you live a lot longer than the mooks! I enjoyed it, and I’m probably going to give that 4th ed teaser book a whirl too, oh and I'm still waiting for my C-tech!

I've been disappointed to learn that the 40k RPG essentially rehashes Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay's combat system. I'd say this is what will throw a bucket of cold water on the initial enthusiasm surrounding 40k's release. WFRP's combat system is terribly clunky and overly deadly, to the point that many careers that aren't outright melee-oriented feel useless and made out of paper-mache.

Hey guys! Welcome back!

I just wanted to make a comment about the D&D preview books: The only surprise about those "preview" books are that people will pay for them. I am sorry, but White Wolf has come out with some really great "intro packs/Demos" for when there games come out and they never charged people for them. I really think that Wizards should just have them available as PDFs on their web site, but then again, that was kind of what made the other GM in our gaming group switch to Warhammer FRP (a great day in our gaming group).

Thanks again for the show and happy new year!

Welcome back!

In the six weeks (gasp!) since your last episode, I found myself downloading other gaming podcasts to pass the time. Now that I've listened to a cross-section of what's out there, I really have to give the 2d6feet crew kudos for being professional, informed, and respected ambassadors for the gaming community. You guys are definitely a cut above the rest (though Have Games, Will Travel comes in a close second). Some of the other stuff to which I listened was pure crap, like one podcast that regularly requires listeners put up with 50 minutes of inside jokes and asinine banter just to get to the topic at hand. Weak.

Thanks for the great work. I look forward to hearing more from you guys.

Flames of War suffered from spare parts releases and missed dates for most of the year. I think the last 3 books in the Normandy series, Villars Bocage (out) Monty's Meatgrinder (coming in Fed) and the Operation Cobra book (coming whenever) will bring more people back into the fold. The Villars book brought in a Tiger Company which has the cool effect similar to running a Baneblade Company in 40k. The model set was gorgeous and the releases all make sense. Battlefront does have big communications problems but the last 3 books are far more applicable to late war than the normandy themed books which they spent entirely too much aimless time on. We can only wonder how they will handle the shift over to the Eastern front after Normandy wraps up.
