Episode 51

by Brian on March 31, 2010

Chris and Brian in Episode 51: Over the Hill. 😉  We discuss the 2009 Dead of Winter invitational, World of Darkness, HeroQuest (the rpg), and review The Armitage Files for Trail of Cthulhu, Pathfinder Friends and Foes, and give a shout out to the Brave Halfling edition of Swords & Wizardry: White Box hardback.

Yes! Go Play SF!

Have I mentioned that sometimes when I introduce myself at the Mini-Cons, people say “Karen from the podcast?”

I’m kind of a big deal. =D

Thanks for the review of Armitage Files. As I think we make clear, the documents are available from our website, but only to people who own the original book. They are not legally downloadable by other people. We will supply the full version of the PDF to retail customers – just email simon@dyingearth.com for details.

So, it’s available for free just like all of our other books are, but not legally.

Thanks Simon. Somehow I completely missed that (my bad) – obviously that obviates any concerns on value of the printed book in that regard.

To make up for it, I’ll make Paul Tevis buy a copy. Several days ago. 😉

Consider this another vote for Go Play SF. As the kids say, w00t!

Yo dudes, thanks for the in depth discussion of the Dead of Winter Horror Invitational. Yes, I wore the pants. Sheesh! Plans are in the works for this year’s event. Go Play SF Bay’s still not up. Doesn’t Macklin know that Dresden can take care of himself (itself?)? Great review of the Armitage Files. btw – The April MiniCon rocked.

Surely you meant “ornithopter” not “orthinopter”… :-)

Fun show and that Dead of Winter thing sounds like it was amazing!

Its been 3 months since this episode…. are there any more planned or have you gone dark for good?

Brian June 22, 2010 at 7:11 pm

Heh! Of course!

We know I tend to take, ah, liberties with words … 😉

Glad you liked the show.

Howdy Joseph –

Well, we’ve gone dark but have no intentions of going away for good.

This turn, we ran into some technical issues extracting and mastering 2 episodes from my iPod.

I’m kind of chagrined to have gone from having 1 – 2 episodes in the can for posting to being 3 months from posting.

Totally my botch.

We do appreciate you and our listeners – and your patience – very much.

25.7.10/11.23 – I’ve just discovered a new chamber, hidden deep within this labrinthian internet consctruct. It appears to be some sort of digitial audio library. Yet, something seems vaguely familiar about this place, like I once used to listen to these shows, long, long ago… It’s all so covered by the dust of the ages, it’s hard to tell – wait!

– what was that?!

I thought I heard something, something stirring down here with me. It’s been only a few months since The Collapse, but even so, with all that’s happened, surely nothing could survive down here? And yet still…

I’m leaving this message here, in case… well, just in case. I have my shot gun, my machete, and a battered copy of All Flesh Must Be Eaten. Surely I won’t need any of it, but I’m going to pause here to check it all, and leave this recording, before I press deeper into this darkened athenaeum.

I hope to hear from you guys soon!

And yet still … :) Thanks for hanging in folks!
